It is a fact of life that a computer, hardware device or program may fail. To reduce the risk and possible damage a failure can cause, there is two possible methods (1) redundancy
(2) watchdog timer. Neither method offer 100% protection, but both reduce risk or consequences of failure. Redundancy, a duplication of hardware is very expensive.
On the other hand the JSB283WDT offers excellent protection at a very low cost. The host computer or application must communicate with the JSB283 by sending a message
over the USB port. If the communication does not occur within that programmed time frame, the JSB283 will trigger a relay to switch states based on the mode
for a programmable amount of time. For mode 1 the relay is open, and will close when a timeout occurs. For the mode 2 module, the relay is closed when power is applied
to the module. Mode 3 modules the relay is closed when the wdt is enabled. Then for mode 2 & 3 the relay will open if a timeout occurs or power is removed from the module usb port.
Wire connection to the module relay contacts is with high quality screw type terminal blocks. Any programming language that supports calls to Windows DLL can also be used to control the module. The software interface is easy to use from Visual Basic,
Visual C# Visual C++ via a standard windows DLL with sample source included. Each module has an unique serial number string which allows multiple USB boards to be controlled by
the host USB controller as individual USB devices. Click on blue tabs above to view other information about the module.

The module utilizes a custom function driver optimized for a maximum device functions and data throughput. Windows driver provided supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows7 for both 32bit and 64bit systems. The user API interface to the driver is via standard window DLL's both as a managed class library and older standard DLL. The CD contains sample programs and source code in Visual Basic, Visual C++, Visual C# for Windows. Third party support includes a Windows standard DLL interface usable from the most popular application programs and includes LabVIEW, MS Office, and MathLab.
