Overview

The MCSB1210 is a USB data acquisition module designed to track 2 quadrature encoders with single ended or differential inputs, 1 channel event counter, 1 channel pulse time counter, 4 channel ADC (analog to digital converter) and 8 bit Digital IO. A quadrature channel consists of standard A, B and Index signals.  Each of the quadrature input channels have a dedicated 24-bit real time 2MHz counter.   The MCSB1210 supports both indexed and non-indexed quadrature encoders in a X1, X2 or X4 count mode.  It provides independent bi-directional counters for each of the encoders at a rate up to 2MHz. The Event counter has a 24 bit counter, and can be configured for rising or falling edges. The Pulse time counter is a 24 bit 50MHz counter that counts the time from one rising/falling edge to the next and stores the last 16 values. Four (4) channel Analog to Digital converters are available in 12 or 16 bit version. The internal microcontroller controls the transfer of data over the USB bus to the host PC. Modules are available with  on board terminal block (screw type) connections or the Molex KK series of 2 piece pluggable connectors.   

The MCSB1210 Quadrature Counter  interface is easy to use from Visual Basic, Visual C++, Visual C#  via a standard windows Managed Class Library with sample source included. Any programming language that supports calls to Windows DLL can also be used to control the quadrature counter.  Each module has an unique serial number string which allows multiple USB devices to be controlled by the host USB controller as individual devices.
